Volume Rate of Change

The Volume Rate of Change (or ROC-Volume) is calculated in the same way as the Price Rate Of Change but using the daily volume instead of the closing price.

This indicator represents the percentage change in volume between the start of the given period and the last day.

Calculation Method

ROC-Volume = 100 * (V - VP) / VP

where:

• V: volume of the last day
• V_P: volume of the first day of the given period

Example

Interpretation

Most major price movements are characterized by a sudden increase in volumes. The Volume Rate of Change indicates the speed at which volumes change.
